Be in Hungary and forget to go to The Balaton Lake? Oh, no, not the Camper Malopolski – he is good enough to reach everywhere. However, our sorrow at leaving the beautiful camping in Veszprem – the partner city of our lovely Tarnow – was big. The camping was located in the marvelous area – on the steep hill of the mountain pick. The camping grass was smooth as a floor, in the air was the smell of pine needles, and there was a view on the biggest bridge in the city. The city is full different bridges. It is also said that the city was located on 7 hills – just like Rome.

After Veszprem we drove towards the Balaton lake and finally arrived in Tihany – the city with the Benedictine Abbey built in the eleventh century. Because of the fabulous areas around Tihany, it is a typical tourist place, which attracts many people from different countries.

Next, we turned towards the small city of Esztergom, - the first capital of Hungary (from the 10th till the mid-13th century when King Bela IV of Hungary moved the royal seat to Buda, today’s Budapest district). Beautifully located, at magical Dunai river, Esztergon is famous for the Saint Wojciech Basilica – the biggest and the most important cathedral in Hungary. The fifth the biggest temple of the world makes that the city is called “Hungarian Vatican”.

Among the people who we met in Esztergom Germans were the biggest group. To get from Budapest to Esztergom they often chose to travel by Dunai river. While chatting with them it turned out that the frequent destination of their trips is also Cracow. At the end of our conversation the ladies received from us the Red Coral necklace, which they liked a lot! Such a gift, received after the very short conversation, can be a big surprise, but also a great trip memory itself. We truly believe, that we will meet each other again, in the Malopolska land!

Być na Węgrzech i nie pojechać na Balaton?

Oj nie, nie Camper Małopolski – on potrafi dotrzeć wszędzie. Choć żal było opuszczać przepiękny kemping w Veszprem – mieście partnerskim Tarnowa. Niezwykle położony, na górze, która kończyła się stromym zboczem. Na kempingu dokładnie przycięta trawka, zapach igliwia, widok na największy w mieście most, a jest ich podobno wiele w mieście, o którym mówi się, że zostało położone jak Rzym – na 7 wzgórzach.

Następnie dojechaliśmy nad Balaton do miasta Tihany – miasto, którego centrum stanowi założone w XI wieku opactwo benedyktyńskie. Jest to miejscowość typowo turystyczna z uwagi na piękne tereny, która ją otaczają.

Kolejno skierowaliśmy się do Esztergomu, niewielkiego miasta, które było pierwszą stolicą Węgier. Pięknie położone, nad magicznym Dunajem, słynie z bazyliki św. Wojciecha największej i najważniejszej katedry na Węgrzech. Piąta co do wielkości świątynia na świecie powoduje iż miasto nazywane jest „węgierskim Watykanem”.

Wśród spotkanych osób w Esztergomie najwięcej było Niemców, którzy w czasie swoich podróży po Węgrzech często dopływają tu Dunajem z Budapesztu. W rozmowach okazywało się, że częstym miejscem ich podróży jest też Kraków. Panie dostawały od nas korale, które bardzo się podobały! Taki prezent, otrzymany po chwili rozmowy, może być dużym zaskoczeniem i pamiątką po miłym spotkaniu, a wierzymy, że jeszcze się zobaczymy, ale już na ziemi małopolskiej!
