Thanks to its beautiful landscape and highly original buildings, this oldest Polish Calvary complex has been inscribed on the UNESCO List. Kalwaria is also famous for its mystery plays, which are staged every year on Good Friday.

Ojców: The Chapel of St. Joseph the Craftman (Chapel on Water) – the wooden chapel, which has features of the so-called Swiss-Ojców style as well as the Zakopane style, is built to a cross plan and supported by pillars planted in the bed of the Prądnik river. The Chapel on Water was transformed from spa baths into a sacred building in 1901. The setting up of the chapel on water is traditionally linked to an edict of Tsar Nicholas II forbidding the building of sacred buildings on Ojców land – hence the cunning ploy of the residents in placing it “on water”.
